A BAL (Bushfire Attack Level) is an assessment to determine the potential exposure a building may face from ember attack, radiant heat and direct flame contact during a bushfire.
The assessment determines the building and construction requirements to reduce potential damage from bushfires to the property.
All residential buildings including additions, decks, carports within 6m of a dwelling located in a high bushfire risk area must have a BAL as part of supporting documentation for building approval through local government.
A standard BAL report includes an onsite property inspection reviewing building location, slope, surrounding and neighbouring vegetation and distance to any classified vegetation.
A standard BAL report costs $330 including GST and can be undertaken and report completed within a week.
In some cases a more complex assessment is required. We can accommodate situations and can offer a custom quote free of charge.
